Frequently Asked Questions
Is hydro dipping durable?
Can anything be hydro dipped?
When it comes to what can be hydro-dipped, the list is virtually endless! Almost any object with a non-porous surface can be decorated using hydro dipping. This includes items like motorcycle helmets, car parts, gaming controllers, sports equipment, and more. However, it is important to note that some materials, such as rubber or silicone, may not be suitable for hydro dipping.
Overall, the versatility of hydro dipping makes it an attractive option for customizing almost anything imaginable. So, if you are looking for a unique, personalized touch for your favorite items, hydro dipping is definitely worth exploring.
Can you disassemble my item?
We have the ability to disassemble your part given that it is within our area of expertise as an automotive shop. Our services are priced at an hourly rate that is reflective of our commitment to quality and precision. However, we would like to clarify that there are certain items, such as firearms, that although familiar to us, require specialized skills that extend beyond our main area of expertise. We suggest getting in touch with us directly if you have any specific items in mind that need to be disassembled. Our team of professionals will be happy to provide you with further guidance on our services and expertise.
How long does it take to hydro-dip an item?
Our company takes pride in ensuring the highest quality of our products, which is why our standard production time is 3 weeks. However, we understand that some clients may need a product in a shorter turnaround time. While we strive to accommodate these requests, we want to emphasize that the cure times associated with the painting process make it challenging to complete a product in less than a week. Therefore, requests for shorter turnaround times may incur fees, which will be assessed on a per-case basis. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to serving you with the highest level of professionalism and quality.
How do I care of my new hydro-dipped item?
Using a damp rag with a mild detergent like Dawn soap is the best way to maintain your finish.
To maintain the integrity of your decorated finish, it is important to avoid using any products that may strip the paint or discolor its appearance. We recommend avoiding insect repellents containing Deet, which is a common chemical that has been found to cause discoloration of the finish. By following these best practices, you can ensure a long-lasting finish that maintains its intended appearance.
When it comes to hunting gear, we have identified several Cleaner’s Lubricants and Protectants (CLP) that have proven safe for use, as long as the parts are not saturated with chemicals. These include Remington Shotgun Cleaner (aerosol), Gumout (carb and choke cleaner, aerosol), Birchwood Casey’s Gun Scrubber (aerosol), PB Blaster (aerosol), Lube Job gun cleaner (aerosol), and Shooters Choice Copper Remover.
Please note that it takes about 30 days for the coating to fully cure. Any object put into operation prior to being fully cured may have its finish damaged if proper caution is not taken.
Can I hydrodip a rusty item?
Hydro dipping can be a great option for restoring deteriorated items. However, it is important to clean and remove any rust from the item before applying the hydro dip. Rust can impede the adhesion of the paint and cause the hydro dip to peel or flake off. To remove rust, you can use sandpaper or a rust remover solution. Once cleaned, the item can be primed and painted with a hydro dip design of your choice. We offer a sandblast service if required.
